New Satirical Game “Grand Taking Ages” to Launch on Steam, PlayStation Removes It from Store

With its AI-generated artwork and voice acting, “Grand Taking Ages,” a satirical take on GTA 6, has successfully persuaded Valve to consider launching the game on Steam, despite Sony’s recent intervention to prevent a PS5 version from being released on the PlayStation Store.
Originally named Grand Taking Ages 6, the game now has a scheduled release date of July 2025 on PC via Steam, and new information has emerged about its gameplay. In an interview with IGN, developer Violarte revealed that Grand Taking Ages will be a management simulator where players take on the role of running a game development company, albeit without the added challenge of being banned from a major console platform.
To ensure its legitimacy, Violarte made adjustments to the game’s logo and presentation in an effort to differentiate it from Rockstar’s GTA 6, a move that apparently convinced Valve to reconsider the game’s status.
Despite Sony’s removal of the project from the PlayStation Store, Violarte argued that Grand Taking Ages is a parody, citing the example of the recent Grand Theft Hamlet project, which staged a production of Shakespeare’s play within GTA Online as evidence. The developer is optimistic about the game’s reinstatement on the PlayStation Store, believing that the recent updates have addressed the concerns raised by Sony.
Regarding the actual GTA 6, Rockstar is aiming for a late 2025 release. Recently, the company shut down a mod that transposed GTA 4’s Liberty City into GTA 5. Eurogamer has reached out to Sony for further comment on the matter.
