Fans Take Matters into Their Own Hands, Creating Their Own GTA 6 Map Amidst News Drought

It has been a year since Rockstar dropped the first trailer for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, breaking records in the process. However, since then, there has been a notable silence surrounding the game.
While some eager fans are scrutinizing every corner of the internet for hints about GTA 6’s progress, others are taking a more proactive approach. They are revisiting last year’s trailer and using it as a blueprint to create their own versions of the game.
One YouTuber, Dark Space, has captured attention with their video showcasing a meticulously crafted recreation of Vice Beach and the downtown Stockyard area within the GTA 5 engine. The attention to detail is so impressive that some shots could easily be mistaken for official gameplay footage.
In the video, Dark Space also presents a speculative cutscene where players are seen attempting to haul a safe out of a pawn shop using a truck and a chain—a scene that may or may not make it to the final game.
Another highlight is a comparison of the estimated size of GTA 6’s map with that of GTA 5, as seen from the vantage point of a plane flying over both landscapes. The implication is that the new map will surpass its predecessor in scale, a trend commonly observed in gaming sequels.
Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar, has slated the release of GTA 6 for late 2025. The coming year is shaping up to be significant for the gaming industry, with other major titles like Borderlands 4 and Mafia: The Old Country also slated for release within the same timeframe.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time fans have taken matters into their own hands. Earlier this year, a group of enthusiasts recreated the GTA 6 trailer using real-life footage and actors, showcasing their dedication to the franchise.
On a different note, the documentary “Grand Theft Hamlet” has recently gained attention for its unique exploration of staging Shakespearean plays within the world of GTA Online. The film sheds new light on both the game and the timeless works of the bard, offering a fresh perspective on the intersection of art and technology.
