“GTA 5 Hits Record-Breaking 210 Million Copies Sold Worldwide”

In the latest financial report released by Take-Two, it was revealed that the immensely popular Grand Theft Auto 5 has reached a remarkable milestone of 210 million copies sold. Over the past three months leading up to December 31st, the game saw an additional 5 million units flying off the shelves.

Not to be outdone, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 has also been a hit with a lifetime total of 70 million copies sold, showing an impressive increase of 3 million units in the last quarter. These numbers are truly astonishing, especially when compared to most other games on the market, except for the behemoth that is GTA 5.

GTA Online continues to thrive with new content like the recent Agents of Sabotage update released in December 2024. The online multiplayer component of the game remains a major revenue driver for Take-Two.

As GTA 5 approaches its 12th anniversary since its original launch in September 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Red Dead Redemption 2 will soon be celebrating its seventh year in October.

Fans eagerly await the arrival of GTA 6, which Take-Two has confirmed will be released sometime this autumn. Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two, expressed confidence in meeting this timeline, despite acknowledging the unpredictability of game development.

Take-Two has a packed schedule ahead with the release of Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 on February 11th, Mafia: The Old Country in the summer, GTA 6 in the fall, and Borderlands 4 slated to close out the year.
