“Next-Gen GTA 6 Coming to Nintendo Switch 2: Publisher Promises Ongoing Support for the Console, Declares Nintendo Not Just for Kids Anymore”

Take-Two has expressed its firm commitment to backing the rumored Switch 2 and has hinted that no game is off-limits for Nintendo’s next gaming console.

During Take-Two’s recent financial results call, company head Strauss Zelnick, in conversation with Eurogamer, was pressed about the possibility of titles from the Borderlands, Mafia, and GTA franchises being available on the anticipated Switch 2.

While Zelnick refrained from confirming any specific game for Switch 2, he did mention that Take-Two’s perspective on Nintendo’s audience had evolved. “We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Nintendo,” Zelnick noted, “and we’ve supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release.”

He continued, “There was a time when Nintendo platforms were primarily focused on younger audiences, which was reflected in our release strategy. Today, with the Switch and potentially with Switch 2, the device can cater to any demographic. Civilization 7 is now available on Switch, so while we don’t have any announcements at the moment, we fully anticipate supporting Switch 2.”

The question remains whether Switch 2 will have the technical capabilities to handle a game like GTA 6. However, it’s plausible that Take-Two is eyeing the Switch user base as another avenue to drive sales for the already immensely successful GTA 5 and GTA Online.

Regarding Rockstar’s highly awaited GTA 6, it was confirmed during the call that the game is still on course to launch in the fall of 2025.
