Rockstar’s GTA 6 Trailer Sets Record as Biggest Video Launch, Surpassing Deadpool and Wolverine

Rockstar Games might have pushed back the release date of GTA 6 to 2026, but that hasn’t diminished the hype surrounding the game in the slightest.

The latest trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 smashed records by amassing over 475 million views across various platforms within just 24 hours. According to Rockstar, this trailer has become the most-watched video launch in history, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

To put this achievement into perspective, the publication highlighted that the trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine garnered 365 million views in its first day, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps debuted to over 200 million views.

The initial GTA 6 trailer was unveiled way back in December 2023 and amassed 93 million views within its first 24 hours – a significantly lower number compared to the second trailer. The first trailer was exclusively released on YouTube, whereas the second trailer, at the time of writing, has accumulated 84 million views on the platform. While this figure may sound massive, it is nonetheless a substantial accomplishment.

In a familiar trend, the song “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters, featured in the latest GTA 6 trailer, has also experienced a surge in streams. Spotify reported a staggering 182,000 percent increase in streams since the song’s appearance in the trailer.

Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s global head of editorial, remarked, “Grand Theft Auto has a unique way of permeating popular culture like few others. Music has always been integral to the series, so it’s fantastic to witness both new and long-time fans engaging with an iconic track in this manner.”

In the wake of the second trailer’s release, Rockstar updated the GTA 6 website with information about the game’s cast and settings. Recently, the developer confirmed that the latest trailer for GTA 6 showcased a blend of “gameplay and cutscenes,” all captured “entirely in-game” on a PlayStation 5.

GTA 6 is slated to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 26, 2026.
