“Take-Two Confirms GTA 6 Release Date on Schedule for Fall, Despite Delay Speculations”

Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 is still set for a fall release, as reassured by publisher Take-Two Interactive, despite ongoing speculations of a potential delay.
In its Q3 FY 2025 earnings report, Take-Two reaffirmed the launch window, stating, “This calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for [the company], as we plan to launch Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 on February 11th, Mafia: The Old Country in the summer, Grand Theft Auto 6 in the fall, and Borderlands 4.”
Last May, Take-Two had initially announced an autumn 2025 release target for GTA 6, providing a more defined timeline compared to the earlier 2025 window revealed during the game’s first trailer debut. Despite ongoing rumors suggesting a delay, Take-Two remains committed to the autumn launch window.
Reports from last March indicated that Rockstar had initially aimed for a spring 2025 release, but development had faced setbacks. While an autumn launch seemed more probable, with 2K later confirming the same, there were murmurs of a potential 2026 release as a backup plan.
However, journalist Jason Schreier from Bloomberg debunked these rumors, and Take-Two has stood firm on the autumn release window, though the exact launch date remains undisclosed.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged the mounting anticipation surrounding GTA 6 in an interview with IGN, stating, “I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally. We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I’m fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we’re all running scared and looking over our shoulders, and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited.”
